Here's a treat after a long drive: parking couldn't be easier. There's a flat, paved spot right in front of the cabin — level, simple to get in and out of, and just steps from the door, with comfortable room for two vehicles.
No steep driveway to climb and no gravel slope to back down with your arms full of groceries — just pull straight in, pop the trunk, and carry everything inside. Look up for the carved Bearly Hangin' On sign and you'll know you're home.
Getting up — and down — the mountain
The roads to us are paved the whole way, but like everywhere in the Smokies they can be curvy and steep in spots, with no streetlights. Take the final stretch slow and easy, especially after dark, and a regular car handles it just fine in normal conditions.
Ice or snow? Take extra care on the way down. The final road down to the cabin sits in the shade, so snow and ice can linger there long after everything else has melted off. Go slow, leave plenty of room, and we strongly recommend 4-wheel drive and/or chains in the snowy months. If conditions look icy and you're unsure, call us before you head out and we'll talk you through it.
